Take some time to look after yourself

Take some time to look after yourself

In my work, I hear so many people’s stories, their journey in life, where they’ve come from, where they are and where they want to be.  Sometimes people are feeling ‘stuck’ at a crossroads and not sure where to go.  Over the last while and even during my holidays chatting to friends or simply people I have met along the way, so many are feeling they are struggling at the moment, overburdened, overwhelmed and a sense of burnout.  A lot are feeling pressured to be switched on all the time.

It is important to take the time to slow down, connect with nature, switch off from your phone, social media and allow yourself to receive a treatment, nourishing foods, time to yourself.

This may panic some people but the more you give yourself time to charge your energy, the easier it is to flow through life and overcome any obstacles that appear.  Everyone has different challenges, it tends to be how we respond to them that makes the difference.  I know I have had my fair share.

Especially in terms of fertility, where when we think about what fertile means.  You think of fertile soil and how it becomes full of all the nutrients.  I know my granny and uncle as farmers would say to allow a field to rest to become fertile again.  If you keep taking from it, it will run out of its reserves.

Many feel they do not have the infamous ‘work-life balance’ along with a connection to who they really are.  I hear so many say, if only I had this, or did this or when this happens I will do what I really want to do, or I wish I had the courage to do this/that, to take a risk…. Quite often a lot will say, you seem to have it right, you follow your heart a lot.  I suppose none of us have the ‘perfect’ balance, it’s about doing what you truly enjoy and when challenges appear, choosing your response is key.

You can let something beat you down, lose hope and/or sight of all the good things in your life.  Or you can learn and grow from the situation. Accepting what has happened, looking at it as something you need to let go off or change.

Even in the most difficult situations a positive always arises.  Sometimes it may take a bit of time to unlock the positive but sitting with, looking after yourself, using the tools you have, and seeking support if and when you need too.

Do not hurry to fill the space, making yourself busier and busier or wallow in the sadness and poor me.  Be patient and trust that something good will come out of it.

Just Be

If you are in the middle of situation and feel you have nowhere to go.  Sit there for a moment, allow yourself to have nowhere to go, nowhere to be, surrender yourself into the support of the ground beneath you, the chair you are sitting on and allow yourself to just be.  No distractions, no phones, observe your breath and slowly with each exhale, allow yourself to let go that little bit more.  Stay here for a few breaths, minutes or longer.  Give yourself as long as you need. Then, focus on the positives in your life, it may be the smallest thing such as your breath, you are still alive, someone you love, a place you cherish.  Focus on this and things will find a way to work itself out.

Life is too short to worry/beat yourself up.  Enjoy and live each moment, surround yourself with people you love and that love you exactly as you are.  Most importantly make time for yourself, do at least one thing in your day that nourishes you and that you love.
